We at the Rainbow Tick are happy to announce that SKYCITY Auckland has achieved Rainbow Tick certification, recognising SKYCITY as an employer that encourages and affirms lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, takatāpui and intersex (LGBTTI) staff.
SKYCITY General Manager Corporate Services Gràinne Troute says SKYCITY encourages diversity in the workplace and sees real value in embracing people from different backgrounds, regardless of their orientation.
“We need people from all walks of life because they reflect our customers and the communities in which we operate. We recognise the benefits of employing staff who not only bring different skills and perspectives, but who are also genuinely the very best candidate for that role, which is the best outcome for our business.”
“We work hard to be a good employer, and the Rainbow certification really is a big tick for us indicating that we are on the right track.”
SKYCITY Talent Acquisition Manager Steven Miratana says being in a workplace that has an open and positive environment is better for everyone.
“I’m extremely proud to work for an organisation that supports and encourages people from all walks of life. I can bring my whole self to work knowing that my views and skills are both respected and valued. It’s a win-win situation for all involved.”
Michael Stevens, The Rainbow Tick Programme Director says, SKYCITY has clearly demonstrated real goodwill and understanding of the value of being a truly inclusive workplace.
“We hope that being able to use the Rainbow Tick will help signal this clearly to your staff.”
SKYCITY Auckland is among the first organisations in New Zealand to get the Rainbow Tick. The auditing process examined company policy, training, engagement and organisational support, external engagement and ongoing monitoring. This was supported by meeting with current staff members from the LGBTTI community.
