The Rainbow Tick Comes to Wellington

The Rainbow Tick received a great welcome in Wellington this week at a function in the Beehive, kindly hosted by Louisa Wall MP. A selection of MPs from a number of parties, Wellington City Councillors along with some of Wellington’s top HR managers and other interested parties attended.

As well as Louisa Wall’s welcome, the Hon. Nikki Kaye spoke on the value of real inclusion in the workforce and how embracing diversity is good for business.

Brigadier Howard Duffy of the New Zealand Defence Force was the keynote speaker, talking of the importance to Defence of being a truly inclusive organisation. The NZDF is now ranked number one in the world for LGBT inclusion. If the military can see just how important this work is, it shows us all the value of it.

Following the Brigadier, Programme Director Michael Stevens outlined what is involved in the programme and how it operates.

With lots of interest and goodwill expressed we trust it won’t be long before we are working in the capital.
